DEUS EX CINEMA religion and film

The Deus ex cinema group was founded on July 4th 2000. Since that day the group has held weekly screenings. The Swedish film Såsom i en spegel (Ingmar Bergman: 1961) is the 500th film to be screened by the group. This will be an open screening and anyone interested in religion and film is invited to join us at the screening and participate in discussions afterwards.

This is the first film in a trilogy where Bergman deals with questions of the existence and nature of God and God's revelation. The title if the film refers to the 13th chapter of Paul's epistle to the Corinthians which reads: "Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." (1Cor 13:12)

The screening will start at 20:00 in Keflavík church. The film scholar Oddný Sen will introduce Bergman and the film briefly before the screening.
